Art & Design
At St. Peter’s, we see art as an integral part of learning and life. We believe that our children should have the chance to be artists and be inspiring and creative. The teaching of art at St Peter’s provides children with opportunities to develop a range of ways in which they can share and express their individual creativity, whilst learning about and making links with a wide spectrum of different types of art in our society. Art at St Peter’s contributes to children’s personal development in creativity, independence, judgement and self-reflection. It enables children to develop a natural sense of wonder and curiosity about the world around them. Our vision for art will teach and develop children’s artistic skills, foster and enjoyment for creativity, imagination and expression. Our focus involves developing skills in drawing, painting and using mixed media and sculpture and 3d art through a channel of self-expression, freedom to fail without reprimand and to succeed without competition, in line with our school values.
