Science
At St. Peter’s Primary School children follow a Science curriculum that enables them to explore the world around them and discover how things work; using evidence to make sense of the world. Our lessons are rooted in scientific enquiry with practical hands-on experiences that encourage a deeper understanding and curiosity with open ended questions. Making new discoveries increases children’s sense of awe and wonder at the complexity of the world we inhabit. Children will develop transferrable skills such as observation, communication and team work to evolve the whole child as a lifelong learner. We provide lessons which consolidate prior knowledge, encourage deeper understanding and that are rooted in scientific vocabulary. We aim to provide a stimulating and open-minded curriculum that nurtures children’s natural curiosity, independence and their on-going knowledge and understanding of the world around them. Through hands on, enquiry-based activities, children will confidently experience the joy of exploration, discoveries and improvements. They will leave us with a good knowledge of how the world works and the skills to find out more.
